ChaseLight
Overview
ChaseLight ("the app") is a photography light-planning tool. We take your privacy seriously: the app does not collect, upload, or sell any of your personal information. Your spots, shooting plans, logs and settings are stored locally on your device by default.
What We Do Not Collect
- No account registration — we never ask for your name, email or phone number;
- No third-party advertising or behavioral analytics SDKs, no tracking of any kind;
- No access to your photo library, contacts or any data unrelated to the app's features.
Location Information
The app requests location access solely to compute sunrise & sunset times, golden hour, blue hour, sun paths, weather and forecast scores for where you are. All location computation happens on your device. You can deny location access and add spots manually instead — every core feature keeps working.
Weather Data
Weather and shooting-suitability data is provided by Apple Weather (WeatherKit). When a weather request is made, your spot coordinates are sent to Apple to return weather results, governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. The app never uses these coordinates for any other purpose.
iCloud Sync (Pro)
Pro users may optionally enable iCloud sync. When enabled, your spots, plans and settings are stored via CloudKit in your own private iCloud database. We cannot access, read or touch any of it. You can turn sync off anytime in the app's settings, or delete the data in iOS Settings → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Notifications
Golden-hour and forecast alerts are local notifications, scheduled and delivered on your device. Nothing passes through any server.
In-App Purchases
Pro is purchased through the App Store (StoreKit). The payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your Apple ID, payment method or billing details.
Data Retention & Deletion
- Local data: deleting the app removes all of its data from your device;
- iCloud data: turn off sync in the app's settings and delete it via iOS iCloud management;
- There is no server-side data to delete — we never hold any.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and note the revision date. Significant changes will also be highlighted in the app.
